Saathi in collaboration with Nepal police and Indian Police rescued 5 Nepali girls who were supposed to be sold at Rs 2,000 each, at Anandnagar railway station of India and a man Dula Ram Chaudhari for his alleged involvement in the incident has been arrested.
The girls were lured by the trafficker in name of foreign employment in third countries through India.
The age of the five rescued girls, are between 18 to 25 from Syangja, Myagdi, Rupandehi and Kapilbastu districts of Nepal. Ms. Punam Parajuli, representative from Saathi led the rescue team and brought them Nepal Friday midnight.
During interrogation, Dula Ram said that he was supposed to hand them over to his accomplice in Gorakhpur in lieu of Rs 2,000 per girl, and later these girls were meant to be sent out of the country, police said. One of the rescued girl, aged 18, said Chaudhari convinced her that he would send her to foreign employment without passport and document. The rescued girls are in Saathi’s safe house in Kapilvastu.
